Dot Com Revolution

There is an old saying about money: "With it you're a dragon, without it, you're a worm". Somewhere in between, you're human. Being human, we're filled with a swirl of sometimes contradictory responses and impulses that often get in the way of personal financial success. Some of these incongruities can be quite amusing. For instance, we tend to overestimate our neighbor's wealth while underestimating our own odds of financial success. Some of us underestimate the importance of investing for retirement, yet overestimate the difficulties of retiring comfortably. Meanwhile, we fixate on the "big" things, like trying to beat the market while overlooking the "little" things, like saving money and lowering our expenses.
Most common mistakes we made with our money in these days are rooted in associated emotions. Once you come to understand these human foibles and find ways to overcome them, managing money doesn't have to be nearly as difficult or stressful as we sometimes make it hard to be. I must say that making things simple is the key to financial success.
When it comes to money, it's a lot harder to do the things we all love, but it's a lot easier to overcome the things we fear. The truth is that many of us are making lots of mistakes with our money. No matter how much we pine for the days when employers took care of our retirement needs, traditional pensions aren't coming back. That means more of us will have to save for our own futures. More of us will have to invest for our own futures. And even more of us will have to retire on our own terms.
We no longer have the luxury of a skyrocketing stock market, fueled by overhyped promises, overstated earnings, and overly mischievous corporate executives to mask our financial shortcomings. Nor do we have the safety net of a seemingly endless supply of high paying jobs that the dot.com revolution afforded us, if only for a few successful years.

A Home Based Dot-Com Business vs a Franchise

Being your own boss is many people's dream, whether it's having a dot-com company or buying into a franchise. Before we were all hit with the wonders of the World Wide Web, for many people franchises were seen to be an escape from the daily rat race and to have more freedom, but unfortunately that dream of reality is harder to achieve than you think and at that an expensive one.
Then there are countless online businesses, which allow you the option to work from home. You don't have to be a whiz kid on a computer to be successful, no matter what myths you've heard. Internet marketing or digital marketing, as it's sometimes known has changed drastically over the years and is vastly becoming more of a reliable option to promote your business and products. 18.3 million households in the UK (that's 70%) had Internet access in 2009 and the numbers have been increasing year on year.
So, let's weigh this up and compare a franchise to an Internet business.
Most franchises you'll find are health and fitness related companies, food chains, financial services, pet stores, the list is endless, but before you even get your business off the ground you need to buy into the franchise, think about your competition, will it be successful in the location. Then you have added extras that soon mount up. Legal fees, licenses and permits (if you want to sell alcohol for example), the rental of the property, utility bills, staff wages etc etc. If you are willing to put in hours upon hours and thousands upon thousands, then great, this type of business could be for you, but why would you want to do this when there is a better alternative?
The boom in the 1990's saw many people setting up their business online. The Internet has some great opportunities out there if you sift through all the scams, and believe me, the internet is full of them, but if you do your due diligence and put in the hours to research then you'll find some great products to market and put to test your budding entrepreneurial skills to good use. To gain the knowledge to actually market these products, you'll need to be taught how and the company that leads the field is YourNetBiz. You don't need to know anything about JavaScript or html codes, it's all about techniques and your approach. There are some excellent training resources where you can learn a whole new world that is very simple when you know how. I gained fruitful skills and knowledge from the business I now work in that is now making me a success online.
Don't get me wrong, franchises do work, and digital marketing is not for everyone. Whatever path you decide to take in finding an alternative business, I wish you the best of luck of finding success.

Your Desired .com Name is Gone!

The Top Level Domain (TLD) is one of the most important factors to consider, when embarking on an online marketing strategy for your company. There are several types of TLDs, with the traditional ones being: 1) .com 2) .net 3) .org. These 3 TLDs have been in existence for a long time, which explains the level of credibility accredited to them by internet users.
All is good if you are able to get your domain name ending the traditional TLDs. However, as more names are being taken up around the world everyday, it becomes a near impossibility for us to get the desired domain names. Does that mean that we cannot do anything about it? Wrong. There are other alternatives that we can consider and as an corporate marketing specialist, it is the time to churn your creative brain juice!
Perhaps your domain name includes words like "to", why not change it to "2"? How about changing a "you" to a "u"? There are many internet lingos that can replace English words, so you can never run out of ideas for the alteration of your domain names.
Such changes might not be a good idea, if your customers are mainly from the corporate level. Instead of changing the domain name, why not considering other types of TLDs? The new generation of TLDs includes: 1) .biz 2) .jp 3) .mobi. If you are targeting at users or customers from certain geographical locations, why not use the TLDs that represents countries? Such as .jp (Japan), .kr (Korea), .us (United States) and many others.
There are endless possibilities and combination to the TLDs and the names that you can have. All you have to do is to consider carefully and when the right name is chosen, half of your marketing battle has already been won.

Dot Net Component: CLR and Com - Decom

Dot Net have an important component that is CLR. No my point of view its not component, I think it provides runtime environment infrastructure to application. Lets take some overview of it.
First of all we need some source code that needed by CLS. It must be in CLS - complaint languages. Now the next step that comes is, CLS compiles the source code generate the Intermediate code (MSIL) and Meta Data.
The MSIL (Microsoft Intermediate Language) contains some instructions that relates to C.P.U. Just like how to load, store, initialize and call methods on objects. In MSIL instructions are also there just like perform arithmetic and logical operations, memory directly access, flow of execution, handle exception. Because before execution MSIL we need CPU specific instructions. And to execute the code, the runtime requires information about the code that is in metadata.
The Meta Data contains the types and references to other type which is helpful for our applications.
Both of these files located in a PE File(Portable Executable File). When we execute the P.E file the class loader loads the MSIL code and metadata from P.E file to runtime memory. Now works for code manager is covers in existence it call the entry point method. This is any of these three.
. Main
. WinMain
. DLLMain
Entry point is first method that is to be executed first. When entry point is execution code manages helps object to places him in memory and controls the execution in the program. Now garbage collector performs periodic checks on the heap to identity the object, type checker performs types checking. Type checker raise error if any occur. CLR controls the code at runtime. Now security engine performs restriction application. Now Managing Multithreading , Com Marshels performs there roles. Now JIT compiles perform there role and convert all thing to native code.

FTC Full of Beans on MySpace (.com) Concerns

The Federal Trade Commission is going over board and trying to ride the wave of success of MySpace.com. They always attack anything that is fast moving in the market place, but why? Well it is simple the FTC in my opinion is a Government Lap Doggy and anytime the government is afraid of losing control the FTC steps in to control them.
Anything new, any new innovation or any disruptive technology they sick the little worthless puppy out to bark up a storm. The Federal Trade Commission says they want to protect children from MySpace.com, but they are full of beans indeed.
If the Federal Trade Commission really wanted to protect the children of the American People and Parents then they would stop the over use of Prozac and Ridlin polluting the minds of kids? Trying to control or take away social online networking from kids is mean and rotten.
Only the government would think of destroying kids fun. Party Poopers and full of beans I say. Who are they going after now to use their extortion tactics to manipulate and control our kids and free markets? Well probable networking sites like FaceBook, MySpace.
FTC hates kids face it and they are full of beans and they are taking this COPPA; Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act too far. That is my pure opinion, but realize I have no use for the FTC because they lie to the American People.

Romance or Bromance: "This Means War" A Surprising Action Rom Com Flick

Men...go see the rom com This Means War.
You read that correctly, I said "men".
At the moment, I am hard pressed to remember a film that blends romantic comedy and action with such balance and panache; it is as much a "guy film" as it is a "chick flick".
The premise is the standard romantic triangle: two buddies "FDR" (Chris Pine, Star Trek, Smokin' Aces) and "Tuck" (Tom Hardy, Star Trek: Nemesis, Inception, Warriors, the forthcoming The Dark Knight Rises) vying for the affections of the same girl (Reese Witherspoon). The twist here is that they happen to be crack field agents in the CIA.
Chris Pine transplants his "Captain Kirk" persona into modern day Earth with the character of "FDR Foster" (with a couple of tongue in cheek references to the iconic character Pine has inherited, including his penchant for "intergalactic relations"). He imbues in his character a confluence of rakish charm of both Kirk and Harrison Ford's "Han Solo" yet Pine plays it with a bit of guardedness. Hardy's "Tuck" is the more "sensitive" of the two, but has enough macho swagger to balance it out. And one particular scene he makes a throwaway line given to Pine at the beginning of the climax especially poignant. He is a very talented actor, and it is surprising that someone who could play the sociopath Charles Bronson can juggle a role such as this. In their interactions Pine and Hardy have a wonderful chemistry together. It is easy to believe that these two have been practically brothers when you first meet them on screen. The comedy comes mostly from their knack of comedic timing coupled with their game of macho gamesmanship. Their affability offsets the inherent discomfort one would get if one were to sit back and ruminate on the tactics they use to sabotage the other and insinuate themselves in their objective's graces (misuse of government funds and equipment is an understatement here).
As the object of their mutual desire, this film is an interesting choice for Witherspoon. She may have top billing but her story takes a back seat to that of her co-stars. Yet she makes the most of what she has and holds her own. She defaults back to the plucky persona she's managed to cultivate throughout her career but refreshingly absent this time is the smug self-awareness that tinged it. She is delightfully lacking in self-consciousness and gives the most natural performance she has in quite a while. Her "Lauren Scott" is competent, self-assured, and slightly neurotic, but none of these are played as stereotype. Complementing her performance is Chelsea Handler. While she is not a revelation as Tom Arnold was in True Lies so many years ago, her character is surprisingly nuanced. Her trademark delivery is in evidence but her persona is sublimated to suit the performance, which is marked with a surprising down to earth sensitivity. Rosemary Harris has little more than a cameo in her role as Nana Foster, but she brings a lot more spunk than she did to "Aunt May" in the Spider-Man films. It is easy to see where FDR got that aspect of his personality from.
Sadly, the resolution the love triangle is practically telegraphed in the beginning of the film. If you've seen the original Star Wars trilogy then you will know how things will end up. In this case, however, the fun really is in the journey not the destination.
As a director, McG has been blasted for being all flash and having very little, if any, substance. However, with each subsequent outing, his films, while entertaining on the surface, begin to carry with them a little more emotional heft. One important theme in his films (and yes, this includes the "Charlie's Angels" franchise) is the importance of familial relationships. This film showcases the importance not only of a fulfilling romantic relationship but that of the filial bond as well. As aforementioned, the "bromance" plot line overshadows the romantic one. In showing the agents as adversaries, the audience is treated to exactly why they need each other. They complement each other in a way only real companions can. Yet he also demonstrates why these men would go after the same girl and why she would be torn between the two. Quite possibly, despite the farcical ludicrousness of the proceedings, this may be McG's most adult/mature film to date.
His pacing of the film is mostly balanced. The quiet moments are almost as gripping as the comedic ones, which come fast and furious and are genuinely funny. Where McG drops the proverbial ball is with his treatment of Til Schweiger as "Heinrich", the film's ostensible antagonist in the sense that his scheme of revenge is less than a "C" plot. The audience never feels any sense of jeopardy because his character is hardly present; he is more conspicuous by his absence. By the time he makes his move against the warring agents, it feels like almost a tacked on, deux-ex-machina afterthought. Also egregious having an actress of the caliber of Angela Bassett and give her what amounts to maybe two minutes of screen time as a Starskey and Hutch desk supervisor stereotype; an expositional plot device and little else. It seems as if the only direction he gave her was "do what you did in Green Lantern, but angrier." The film could have arguably moved along fine without her, which is more indictment of the script than the talents of the pigeonholed Bassett.
This Means War is an almost perfect balance of what Hollywood looks for in its films: a film that will satisfy both genders. As of this writing it is lost in the shuffle of other, bigger budgeted and hyped films and that is to its detriment. Despite its minor flaws, it is a wonderfully executed film that is sure to please both genders and delivers on laughs and action.

Greenspan's Reign - Lessons From The Dot-Com Disaster

Under the reign of Greenspan, the major but avoidable catastrophe of the stock bubble burst occurred in 2001. This led to the evaporation of wealth for many. However, as history always repeats, it is imperative that we learn as much as possible from the mistakes of people in order to exploit them to our advantage should similar situations occur again. Let us now explore the lessons derived from this painful incident.
In 2001, when the stock bubble burst, 911 coincidentally occurred, precipitating a greater crash in the market. Despite this, the root cause of this crash is nevertheless still because the bubble developed overcapacity for the economy, causing the fall in demand that led to a recession. With a further strike by 911, demand simply just fell further because of more fear elements in the market. However, because of the perfect timing of 911, Greenspan conveniently pushed his responsibility for causing the crash to it. Personally, I think this is very irresponsible and cowardly.
As many of you would have noticed by now, Greenspan likes to extol virtues of ideas he doesn't fully understand and because of this ignorance, he leads people to destruction. For example, during the 1990s, despite strong evidence proving the existence of a bubble, he refused to heed advice due to his infatuation with technology. What he failed to realize is that history always repeats.
Looking back, many would see that nothing is really new even if headlines constantly announce the innovative, radical and groundbreaking. When something is presented as novel or different, there is always a precedent. For example, the Internet can be compared to the railroad, clipper ship. airplanes, electricity, radio telephone, television, PC, etc where investments in all these "new" arenas all ended up very badly.
In fact, the claim of something being unprecedented should warn you of whether the market is overheated and in a state of mass hysteria. Always remember that nothing emerges as so entirely different and because of this, be doubtful when you see them!
With this, investors ought to study history very carefully to learn precisely what happened and what didn't. This will help you understand what is about to happen, allowing you to bring the situation to your advantage. Here, it is clearly seen that humans are after all driven by emotions and the reason why Greenspan didn't see the bubble was because he was taken over by it.
In conclusion, after covering the importance of understanding and knowing history, I believe readers now see the light behind the burst of the dot-com bubble. Now, share this piece of knowledge with others and seek to learn with them!

Greenspan's Reign - Contributions To The Dot-Com Bubble (1998-1999)

Being chairman of the US Federal Reserve, Alan Greenspan once wielded great power and was in fact lord of the US economy. However, during his reign, he planted the root for 2001's dot-com bubble which caused many to lose their hard-earned money. Without further delay, let us now explore how Greenspan contributed to the bubble's growth during the period of 1998 to 1999.
In the period of 1998 to 1999, Alan Greenspan contributed to the bubble by slashing interest rates 3 times to 4.75% despite the fact that the stock market was already recovering from Long Term Capital Management's collapse and Russian debt default. This underlying fear of deflation overstimulated the economy and increased irresponsible speculation.
While he might not have meant this, Greenspan's actions sent out the message that he would support the economy by increasing liquidity should any decline come. This emboldened speculators as they became under the mirage that the economy will never fall.
In addition, the slashing of interest rates was done on a Friday where many options contracts were expiring, increasing price movements as options make use of leverage. This further adds on to the message that Greenspan is with the speculators and will further reduce interest rates more than increasing them.
To make things worse, he insisted that there was no bubble going on when many others thought otherwise and provided evidence about its existence. Despite the fact that even Paul Volcker (his predecessor) showed him that the stock market was at 180% of US GDP, he nevertheless still believed in the miracle of technology and refused to heed advice. Such obstinate behavior contributed to the bubble's growth.
However, when interviewed after the bubble burst, he attempted to blame others and shirk responsibility by involving people like Bob Rubin by saying that market forces cannot be controlled or fought when others before him and he himself did so (by overheating the economy).
To add on, he even made many ridiculous claims that bubbles can only be seen after they burst when so many people already provided him tangible proof that a bubble was going on. In retrospect, I do not think that such acts of denial should be condoned and we ought to learn from all these as history always repeats.
In conclusion, having covered how Alan Greenspan fueled the fire of speculation during the period of 1998 to 1999, I believe readers have learnt much about economic history. Now, with this knowledge in mind, seek to exploit such situations to your advantage should they happen again.

Online Investing - What Happened With the .com Boom?

The big World Wide Web big bang that occurred last decade has inevitably influenced the global market and its means of expansion. Internet became the bottomless source of potential income and invest, open and accessible to - practically - everyone, a fact that increased its popularity as an investing tool.
Thus, a new 'competition' started.. Big Businesses started seeking new clients through online marketing, introducing a new species of professionals: the online brokers, your new right hand in your effort to enrich and expand your portfolio and consequently your profits.
What happened this last decade was actually the awakening of a dormant beast. The obvious practicality of internet, the endless resources and means of research, the growing opportunities made everyone who had even the slightest possible connection with technology to take advantage of this venting machine. Online investing became a 'must', a new luminous idea, a great offer. In 2001 there were 20million online accounts only in the USA and the numbers kept growing.
During the dot com boom online companies became an unstoppable force, having, nevertheless, the same expanding plan in order to monopolize the market, ending up in offering the same advantages, the same opportunities and then competing into offering the best services in order to steal clients from the other same sellers.
Who profited from this new game? Of course all these who predicted the big boom in advance and placed themselves among those who were trafficking money and offers and finally saw their stocks rising fast. Dot com is here to stay; whoever got the point in first place has already taken action. These are the smart ones.

An Internet Marketer's Guide to Squidoo.com

Seth Godin, the best selling author of books such as "Permission Marketing", is the guy behind the phenomenon known as Squidoo.com. At its most basic, Squidoo lets you quickly and easily make single page websites (aka "lenses") on whatever subject takes your fancy.
The lenses can be about anything, such as ideas, fashions, people, places, sports, hobbies, pets, products, religion, philosophy, politics, and of course, business. People who generate lenses are known as lensmasters.
The main purpose of a Squidoo lens is to recommend, advise and point to more detailed content elsewhere on the web. You might think of Squidoo.com as a huge user-generated network or directory. It has the dynamic atmosphere of a lively online community.
Lenses are easy to create and can be made in as little as ten minutes, so it is possible for anybody, even people with no prior knowledge of building websites, to make a lens. Squidoo offers you a free and easy outlet where you can enthuse about whatever grabs your fancy. You can also add YouTube videos, eBay auctions, Amazon books, surveys, RSS feeds and a whole lot more to your lens, all without having to leave the site.
Squidoo is also a great tool for Internet marketers and offers several benefits to them, all free of charge. Here are just a few of the benefits of making lenses for Internet marketers.
One of the key characteristics of making lenses is that you are free to promote your own website on them by posting links to it. Squidoo is popular with the search engines, so you can easily improve your overall ranking by making a series of lenses and pointing each one to a specific page of your website.
Because lenses are also indexed by the search engines, the more lenses you make the higher your personal Squidoo page will rise in the rankings, especially if you learn to keyword-optimize your lenses.
Squidoo has a very permissive attitude indeed towards online marketing, so you can use it to boost your website traffic by adding website links. You can also link directly to your affiliate marketing programs.
As I said earlier, items from eBay and Amazon can also be posted on your lenses. When someone buys something by clicking on one of your links you will earn a commission.
Visitors to your lens can also post comments and links to your lens if you wish, and they can also give your lens a rating of between 1 and 5 stars.
One more useful interactive feature is the option of setting up a poll to survey your visitors. Setting up a poll can be done in just a few simple steps; again, you don't need to possess a single iota of technical know-how.
It is these interactive features that make Squidoo such a good resource as they encourage visitors to your lens to interact with you and at the same time boost your Squidoo ranking, making your lenses more attractive to search engines across the Internet.
Squidoo is an enjoyable platform to work on and offers a free way to easily publicize your business and perhaps increase your income!

Screwball Vs Rom Coms - Screwy Resolutions

Watching Just Like Heaven the other day, it struck me that the endings to modern rom-coms are all essentially the same. The couple catch up with each other in a rose garden, on a rain soaked street, or atop the Empire Street Building, they kiss, the camera pulls out, and a Nat King Cole song leads us into the credits. To many viewers this might seem to be par for the course. Romantic comedy is traditionally one of the most formulaic of all genres, and you would expect the ending to be as unsurprising as the rest of the plot. This wasn't always the case, however. As much as I love to watch an aerial shot of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan locked in an embrace whilst Harry Nilsson croons over the top (and I do), I also miss the days when romantic comedies were more inventive and unexpected in the way they finally brought the couple together.
In the 1930s, the heyday of the screwball comedy, it was rare that we would actually witness the couple finally overcoming their inhibitions and 'getting it on', but we would instead have to infer it from some form of fiendishly clever callback or visual joke. Part of this was due to the moral climate of the times. The "production code" dictated that it was inappropriate to see an unmarried couple spending a night together, and even if they were married, only in separate beds. This posed a problem for 1934 screwball romance "It Happened One Night", the plot of which involved a runaway heiress and a newspaper report forced to spend a night in the same motel room. The (somewhat risque for the times) solution was for star Clark Gable to rig up a rope and blanket between the two beds which was henceforth referred to as 'The Walls of Jericho'. This achieved the dual goal of appeasing the censors, and setting up what would become a running joke. After the couple eventually realise they want to be together, the reunion is achieved through two very simple shots. One is a slightly befuddled motel owner reporting to his wife on a couple who made the unusual request of having a rope, a blanket and a toy trumpet. The next is said blanket ceremoniously dropping from said rope whilst a tinny bugle call plays in the background. No need for further explanation.
Examples of this kind of wit and ingenuity abound in classical Hollywood. Another great example being Only Angels Have Wings, the ending of which finds pilot Cary Grant setting off from his base while a desperate Jean Arthur begs him simply to ask her to stay and she will. The stubborn Grant responds that he "never asked a woman to do anything", and he flips a coin, telling her if it's heads she might as well stay. It lands heads, but this is not good enough for Arthur who watches tearfully as the object of her love walks away, seemingly indifferently to her presence. But on inspecting the coin in question she realises that it is in fact the double headed coin which Grant has been flipping the whole film. There's no need for schmaltzy dialogue here, just her ecstatic face as she sees him soaring into the sky is enough that we know everything will work out fine.
Perhaps the best example of the unexpected nature of these endings is to be found in another Grant film - "The Awful Truth". An estranged but still very much in love married couple wait up in separate bedrooms of a creaking house as a cuckoo clock ticks away the final hours until the divorce that neither really want will be official. Just before midnight we find Grant despondently pacing around wife Irene Dunn's bed as she watches helplessly, neither willing to make a move. Again, two simple shots resolve the seemingly impossible situation. The wind blows the door shut behind Grant, leaving him and Dunn shut in the room together. The cuckoo clock hits midnight, and we see the familiar figures of a wooden bride and groom trot mechanically out of the clock and begin to head back in. Only this time the tiny toy figure of the groom doesn't return to his own enclosure, but instead decides to trot after his wife in an ending which is totally impossible, but bolder, more surprising, and more economical in resolving the plot strand than anything current Hollywood could ever dream of. In short - utterly delightful.
So although filmmakers today may be much less limited in what they can show on screen, this doesn't mean that their imaginations need be more limited. Next time I see a Hollywood romantic comedy, I'm going to have my fingers crossed that the director has the courage to end it on more than just a kiss and a thunderstorm.

Is the Com Era Ending Soon

Today while browsing around the inter net I found a very interesting web site that I wanted to learn more about. This company is out of Carlsbad, CA. a town I lived in many of years ago. This company is flying up the INC. 500 list like gang buster. That interested me enough to dig further into their site. I love it when I find a gem out there in this cluttered web we view.
This company has put together its own .com but it is .ws. Which stands for web site. I know that trying to find a domain name is hard to get the one you want, you wont find a .com. This company has been up 6 years and has blasted the alexia ratings. The interesting part is that no one know about them. I never heard of them before and in fact only 1% of the web has. This made me think, how can a company no body has heard of have such an alexia rate? How can a company no one has heard of be #37 in the INC 500 list? Come to find out by snooping around that huge companies know about this hidden gem, companies like BMW, Ebay, AT&T, UPS, Kmart, Cisco Systems and other huge companies. How do these giants know about future trends but not us until it's too late? Do they have people? I guess so.
Is our world going to become a .ws world now? This is sounding like the Microsoft of yesteryear. Where fortunes are made over night and we all watched in wonder how that happened. The predictions are that 500,000,000 new domain names will be up and running real soon. I guess that is why it is hard to get a .com domain. To hear that we are now at 1 billion domain names I guess they have to have new extensions like .ws. I guess that is why all the huge companies are grabbing up the extension .ws before it is lost for good. If you want to be up to date, you may need a new extension.

Get a Dot Com Business

Internet businesses are exciting and rewarding. What are their benefits over a street based business and how do you start one?
Benefits
  • The costs and therefore the risks are so much lower.
  • There is no investment in buying or leasing a high street shop. The equivalent in an online business can be around only two dollars a week for a domain name and web hosting.
  • Startup costs are low. You can create a website free using WordPress and its ecommerce plugins. Or you can pay someone to create one. It's still cheaper than opening a shop on the street.
  • The whole world is the market for a dot com business. For a shop on the street the market is only within the travel distance from the shop.
So how do you start?
Products
  • Find products or services that you could be passionate about marketing.
  • Choose consumable products that produce frequent repeat orders.
  • Become an expert in your products. Learn everything there is to know about them, or ensure access to support from suppliers.
  • Is there a ready market for that product? Do some research.
  • Is there a ready supply at a price that you can resell at a reasonable profit?
  • If the big chains are already selling it, can you deliver it cheaper?
Business name
  • Register a domain name to include a key word relating to that product. Don't let ego trap you into a domain name like billsmithenterprises.com. A domain name that relates to the products that you market will help your position in a search of Google for such products by prospective customers.
  • If your domain name is easy to remember it will be easy for customers to refer other customers to it.
  • Register a business name relating to your domain name. Get a PO Box number and a bank account for that business name.
Website
  • Arrange hosting of your domain name to include installation of WordPress with an ecommerce plugin. You can do this yourself or get help from a web designer. There are some 1600 free WordPress themes available and thousands of plugins.
  • Learn about search engine optimization. Make a website that is easy to navigate and is Google friendly. After launching it get some other websites to link to yours.
  • Start a home page with a lot of text including key search words.
  • Enter your products, using as much description and information as you can. In Google the websites with more information get ranked higher than those with less. Pictures are worth a thousand words to the prospective customer, but Google ignores pictures and indexes your words.
  • Decide on delivery charges and payment options.
  • Publish guidance on the use of your products.
  • Publish a returns policy, a privacy policy and any other information to assure customers they can safely order from you.
  • Publish the name of your business along with the PO Box number, town and state address plus a telephone contact. Prospective customers like an assurance that you are in the same country and that they can phone for more information and support. We have seen online businesses fail when they tried to be anonymous.
Operating your business
  • Be prepared to work very hard to get started. The first two years are critical as in that period most business failures occur. We worked hard for two years to gain customers. Now a few years later we work hard to keep up with the orders and with servicing hundreds of customers in every state.
  • In your contact with prospective and existing customers make them feel that they are experiencing personal attention rather than automation. Be on first name terms. They will want to continue dealing with your business.
  • Be systematic on processing orders and shipping them promptly.
  • Be systematic in recording your accounts. Your bank statement and your PayPal history can be downloaded and used for preparing your annual tax accounts. Your ecommerce website should provide sales history.
Summary
A dot com business has no limits to the size of its market. Choose the products carefully and become an expert in them. Enjoy the freedom of running your own business.

Internet Marketing for A .Com Business - 6 Ways of Advertising Online

Offline Business use flyers, brochures, billboards, posters, business cards etc. for their advertising. So if you have a website, how do you advertise online? There are many ways to do this, but I'm going to share with you, 6 of the most used techniques.
1. Improve your website's ranking through using search engine optimization (SEO)- If you can target key words to use in your.com business website, this internet marketing strategy is one of the easiest ways for your website to be found. Keywords are words people use (in Google etc.) when trying to find a particular item or information they are after.
2. Buying pay-per-click (PPC) ads. - You can purchase ads, just like you can in a business phone book. You can use pay-per-click advertising in places like Google, or Facebook. This is a great way to target your key audience because you can put a little about what your business has to offer in the ad. People only click on it if they are interested. Therefore, you only pay for the ad when interested people click on it. The only problem is that if you do not have the skills to do this properly, you can lose out on lots and lots of money.
3. Banner advertising - Just like an ad in a magazine. If someone has a website that attracts a certain amount of your target audience to it, you can purchase advertising space on the site.
4. Social media marketing - Joining sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, which have social network groups you can tap into.
5. Blog marketing - If you go on blog sites related to your topic, you can post comments and / or URLs to your site. The other way is to create your own blog.
6. Article marketing - Write articles in sites such as this one on particular subjects related to your site is one of the best internet marketing online strategies for your.com business, as it is free. Therefore, your targeted audiences reading the articles will hopefully click through to your site. Although it is a slower process, if you stick to it, and keep writing articles, you are very likely to succeed at driving traffic to your site.
As you can see, there are a few options to choose from. Some are easy, some are a little harder, some cost money, some are free. I suggest using a few different strategies for your business -.com internet marketing online is very effective and easy if you just know where to start.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that all this motivational sales copy makes it appear as though by spending $100 you will be given the life of your dreams. The question everyone wants to know is...Does the Internet Marketing Com business work?
The short answer is yes. However, it is not the pie in the sky, easy money, job that so many marketers make it out to be. Like any worthwhile business, it requires a measure of your time, due diligence and the right knowledge to make it happen.
It is absolutely true that you can eventually earn all your money from Internet Marketing, but it is not an overnight event. You can begin making money out of the gate, but that money is not going to be the tens of thousands dollars that 'internet gurus' promise you.
Requirements For Success
There are three important things you need in order to make a success of Internet Marketing.
1.) A Computer
2.) The willingness to put some work into your new business

One other aspect of your willingness to work hard also involves avoiding 'Guru Hypnotizing.' Invest in Internet Ideas - The Coming Dot Com Boom

Looking back over the years the current oil crisis is not something new but part of the big picture and the pattern of the economy. The economy goes in cycles as investors flock from one commodity to another. From real estate to oil, from gold to cash in the bank, from cash in the bank to internet start up...what? What did I just say?
You will realize there is something special about this economy, something never seen before. There is a new dance partner in the economic cycle and that is the internet. The first one was not just a boom it went nuclear. The heady days of the 2000 boom was a spectacle to watch as any mom and pop in their spare bedroom became an instant multi millionaire by simply making a website with some potential.
The people that make ipo's (initial public offers) which is how a company is floated on the stock exchange were making an absolute killing and so were the internet people making these websites because investor demand just saw no end in sight. This new player, the internet, is in existence due to the developed technology but something even more interesting has occurred.
In the years of the first dot com boom, there was crazy investor demand but it was mainly institutional investors and professional speculators. But today, due to current maturation of technology like cheap and prevalent broad band means millions and millions of people are participating in the internet. There is a more stable audience and therefore more profits to be made. Another dot com boom is in sight, it might come this year or it may eventuate in 5 years but this type of commodity is definitely going to be back and I see this time, the boom will go into the stratosphere.
If you need money now, like I mean in the next hour, try what I did. I am making more money now than in my old business and you can too, read about Martin Thomas in the link below. When I joined I was skeptical for just ten seconds before I realized what this was. I was smiling from ear to ear and you will too.

Top 10 Tips to Win the About Com Guide Prep

Have you thought about applying for an About.com guide position? This article will give you a few pointers from someone who has been there. I applied for the Stress Management site and lost but my experience may help you become familiar with the process.
At the bottom of their homepage, you'll find a link to available websites. The guide prep is 17 days with four deadlines. You'll be in competition with up to five other guides that have applied. They start guide prep every week. I started late on a Friday afternoon with the deadline for the final eval occurring on a Monday.
It could be a few weeks until you hear whether you've been accepted. My acceptance letter was received approximately three weeks before starting the competition. They'll give you a start date and tell you to expect another email.
You can use this time to brush up on web building skills and write a few articles, a complete glossary and frequently asked questions. About has their own language - using brackets [a href] instead of arrows for their code. Their blog which is hosted by Six Apart uses regular html. Research the best way to word link descriptions - it's a big part of their site. SEO is also important. Every page has keywords and meta descriptions.
They prefer "Top 10" or question and answers for their articles. Read web references for writing on the web: short paragraphs, paragraph headings, simple sentences and language. They prefer content that is offering specific advice, motivates a reader to take action or answers a specific question.
Guide Prep is a self directed step by step program for developing one of their mini sites. It includes an orientation forum with questions from previous guides. You'll notice some of the questions go unanswered with little recent posting. Questions are answered hours to days later.
It's helpful to read the questions and answers but some of the information is outdated. Keep in mind that it's meant to be a self directed program.
Top 10 Tips to Win The Guide Prep Competition
1. Prepare - After you've written them regarding one of their open spots do some preparation. Write a couple of articles in the "written for the web" format. Research keywords appropriate for your subject. Research writing for the web. Compile a glossary and frequently asked questions. Keep note of links for your content. Each original article should link to 3-5 sources and your glossary.
2. Practice and become familiar with uploading images with a FTP client. I didn't include images in my practice site. That could have been one of the reasons I didn't win. It could also have had something to do with my writing skills. I found it difficult to write on a deadline.
3. When you receive the welcome email the competition begins. I received mine about three weeks after the acceptance email. You're encouraged to take a few days to become familiar with their guide prep site. Take the time to look over their lounge and pay attention to their tools. They have preferences for the kind of content that goes in each. Their site building interface has some bugs in it. When you publish make sure that it posted.
4. Plan your site before you enter categories and content. You are required to have 10-15 categories with a piece of original content or a link to websites in each.
5. Glossary tool - Each definition is typed in separately on a form. What you type in first is at the bottom and each additional entry is above the first. If you type in your glossary starting at "A" - the content will publish with "Z" being at the top of the list. Anything added later will be out of alphabetical order because it will publish on top. There is no way to insert items.
Compile a complete glossary before you begin and start typing from the bottom of your glossary. It will then be in alphabetical order.
6. Read the information in the lounge, the Q & A in the orientation forums and the guide prep before you start. Pay attention the the description of the content that goes in each tool. There is a lot of information in the lounge if you look for it.
7. Don't expect much help nor ask for it. You'll just be frustrated waiting for an answer. Use your judgement based on what you've read and the site description they emailed you.
8. Make sure what you publish is ready for prime time before the site is live. When you hit "publish" make sure it is ready for viewing by the public. You can't delete content later. Only support can do that.
9. Plan your schedule to reduce commitments during the competition. You'll spend quite a few hours planning the site, writing articles and finding the best links. Learning to use their tools is one of the most important functions of guide prep.
10. Make sure the content is in the correct tool. Thoroughly read through each tool before entering content because the instructions can be confusing.
Write a bio of your qualifications, education and a message to the public. Look at a few About.com guide sites to get ideas. While you're at it, read as many sites as you can to become familiar with the content.
When I received the welcome e-mail, I did a search for information about guide prep and found nothing on the internet. It would have been helpful if I knew what to expect. I hope this helps you and good luck!

Lessons Learned from the Dot Com Bomb and the Attack on America

Many Americans didn't have time to recover from the "dot com bomb" before the "attack on America." Whether we wanted to or not, many of us are forced to take a long, hard look at life and realize several bitter truths:
o What seems highly logical may turn out to be completely ridiculous.
o What you see today may be gone tomorrow.
o Who you think has all the answers may be totally wrong.
o Why you expect to succeed may be the very reason you fail.
Eighty hour workweeks, two hour commutes, and a family who never sees you...these are just some of the hallmarks of the past dot com business craze where high-tech entrepreneurs sacrificed their time, their health, and sometimes their family for their pursuit of "overnight" riches. As these business-minded individuals worked tirelessly to capitalize on the e-business revolution, their dreams often materialized briefly and then quickly turned to dust. Looking back now on this past business craze, we can all learn one important lesson: working harder and longer is just plain dumb!
This is not to say that we should all sit back and live a life of idle laziness. On the contrary, not working at all would be just as bad as working too much. It simply means that we need to create a balance between our professional and personal lives so we can reduce stress and be happy.
Focus on What's Important The first step to a balanced life is to determine what's important, both at work and at home. While obtaining the corner office and the front parking spot may be your ultimate professional goal, is it worth the price of sacrificing your personal goals, such as attending your child's school play or taking that vacation you've been promising your spouse for the past five years? Prioritize the events in your life and determine which ones you can't bend on and which ones are flexible. For example, you may decide that you want to attend every little league game your child plays in, yet your job requires you to work late several nights of the week. Perhaps you can opt to attend half of the season's games, thus allowing you ample time to complete your work projects while still spending time with your family. When you evenly devote your time to the various aspects of your life, you create a win/win situation for yourself, your company, and your family.
Organization is Critical to Balance Your ability to accomplish anything in life is tied to your ability to find what you need precisely when you need it. If your office is buried under a mound of papers and you waste precious time each day searching for materials, it's no wonder you can't make time for your personal endeavors. Research shows that the average person spends 150 hours a year - almost six weeks - looking for misplaced information. Organize your office so you can use those 150 hours for more important activities, like picnics, beach outings, and relaxing family dinners. All your information should be organized in such a way that all people have access to what they need at any time, whether it is located in your office, in a central filing location, or in an off-site location. When people can find what they're looking for, you reduce their dependence on you and the interruptions they make to have you help them locate something. While working harder and longer is dumb, working smarter is not. Enable yourself to work smart by keeping everything organized and in its place.
Create an Intentional Environment Be conscious about the decisions you make as to what you choose to surround yourself with. When you keep your surrounding free of clutter and build up, your stress level decreases. And the less stressed out you are, the more productive you can be. Did you know that 80% of what we keep we never use? So why spend time, money, and effort to continually move and keep track of things you'll never need or use? For each piece of paper, ask these questions: "Does this require action or was it for information only?" "Does it exist elsewhere?" "How difficult would it be to get again?" "Is it recent enough to be useful?" and "What's the worst thing that could happen if I don't have this piece of paper?" If you can live with the results, toss it and free yourself from additional clutter and stress.
Balance is Attainable No matter how indispensable you think you are to your company's success, no matter how much you want to impress your boss with your amount of overtime, and no matter how fast you want to climb the corporate ladder, sacrificing your personal life for professional success simply does not make sense. While working harder and longer may give you some short-term rewards, they'll mean nothing if you have no one to share them with. As you go through your day always remember that what you see today may be gone tomorrow; who you think has all the answers may be totally wrong; and why you expect to succeed may be the very reason you fail. Keep your life's activities and priorities in perspective so you can achieve the balance that's necessary for a productive, profitable, and most important, happy future. That brings me to one final glorious conclusion: When it seems that everything is coming to an end, it may be just the beginning!
